Privacy Policy for Orbit

Last Updated: December 2, 2025

Orbit ("we," "our," or "us") is developed by Marvin Digital MV. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and disclosed when you use the Orbit mobile application (the "App").

1. Our Privacy Philosophy: Local-First

Orbit is designed with a "Local-First" architecture. This means:

  • Your Data stays on your device: Your journal entries, unsent letters, and reality checks are stored locally on your smartphone using your device's internal storage (AsyncStorage).
  • No Account Required: We do not require you to create an account, nor do we collect your email address, phone number, or physical address to use the App.
  • We don't see your journal: We (Marvin Digital MV) do not have access to read, view, or sell your personal entries.

2. Information We Collect and How We Use It

A. User-Generated Content (UGC)

You may input text data, including:

  • Journal Entries: Reflections on your feelings and experiences.
  • Unsent Letters: Texts written to ex-partners.
  • Reality Checks: Lists of behaviors or patterns.

How it is processed: This content is stored locally on your device. However, when you use AI features (such as chatting with "Orbit" or requesting analysis), this text is transmitted securely to our third-party AI processors (see Section 3). This transmission is ephemeral: the data is sent, processed, and a response is returned. We do not save your journal entries or chat history on our external servers.

B. Personal Information

You may enter:

  • Names & Pronouns: Your first name and your ex-partner's name/pronouns.

Purpose: This is used solely to personalize the App interface and AI responses. It is stored locally on your device.

C. Device & Usage Data

We may collect anonymous, aggregate metadata regarding:

  • App Usage: Streak data, current recovery phase, and onboarding status.
  • Technical Data: Device type, operating system version, and general location (country/region level, not GPS).

Purpose: To improve App stability and track aggregate growth.

D. Subscription Data

If you purchase Orbit Pro, payment is processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your credit card information. We receive a digital receipt (token) to validate your subscription status.

3. Third-Party Data Processors

We use trusted third-party services to operate the App. By using Orbit, you acknowledge that your data may be processed by these providers:

ServicePurposeNature of Processing
OpenAI (USA)AI IntelligenceProcesses your text inputs to generate responses. We do not allow OpenAI to use your data to train their models.
Supabase (Global/Edge)Serverless InfrastructureActs as a secure bridge to pass data between your device and OpenAI. Data is transient and not stored persistently in a database.
RevenueCat (USA)Subscription ManagementValidates your purchase receipt from Apple to unlock Pro features.
Apple (Global)Hosting & PaymentsHandles App distribution and all financial transactions.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Retention: Because data is stored locally, it remains on your device as long as the App is installed.

Deletion: You can delete all your data by:

  • Uninstalling the App.
  • Using the "Reset Orbit" button in the App Settings, which instantly wipes local storage.

Note: Since we do not store your data on our servers, we cannot execute a remote "delete" request for you. You have full control on your device.

5. Security

We implement commercially reasonable security measures to protect your information during transmission to our AI providers (using SSL/TLS encryption). However, the security of your stored data relies heavily on your device's security. We recommend keeping your device passcode secure.

6. Children’s Privacy

Orbit is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions like the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child, we will take steps to delete it.

7. International Data Transfers

Orbit is operated by Marvin Digital MV. If you are accessing the App from outside the region where our servers or third-party processors are located, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
